I am inspired by the sculptural possibilities of things I see around me, and I was playing around with some pieces of discarded flexible packaging which, although rectangular, could be distorted into gentle curves. By forcing two of them together at a skewed angle, I created visual tension. The addition of the triangular-section shaft creates a third axis and anchors the piece. Although the original was only 10 cm across, I felt it needed to be 1.20 m.
